Sloslylove

Synth dynasty warlord.

When we first discovered Feng Meng Vue, a hidden gem from Wisconsin, we were surprised to hear that not more people knew of him. With his crisp 80’s cinematic inspired sounds (his album Tendencies being on heavy rotation for many hot summer nights), he sets sceneries that lead us to a soundtrack feel of movies that don’t exist. Keeping in touch with him over the years, we thought it would be time to introduce him; Sloslylove.
Tell us something about yourself please. Like who are you and what do you do for a living?

Hi, I’m Feng. I record music under the name Sloslylove and also Lord Sleepy. I get nervous sometimes. I play a lot of Street Fighter 3 and 4… I’m trying to figure out what I wanna do with my life and with work, I’m lost. I also make designs and illustrations. Someone hire me!

Your style is very cinematic and 80’s almost, what is your fascination for these sounds?

I have older brothers, so they put me on all the old stuff they used to listen to. I been hyped on freestyle since way back before I can even remember. I just love synthesizers and drum machines, they human as fuck!

What themes do you try to pursue in your music?

I live in Wisconsin, so I’m basically from the woods. I guess I make things based on my surroundings and how I feel, but exaggerated. You know? Like, I’m pretty sure we’ve all experienced a John Hughes-like movie moment.

His films are always larger than life, but so real at the same time. I think that’s the main theme, taking something simple and blowing it up.

Eight features directed by John Hughes.

What do you consider as your own personal masterpiece (so far)?

Nothing is ever finished. There is always more to be done. I don’t think I could ever settle.

What is the best advice you have ever gotten and wish to pass on the others?

Don’t jump in on shoto’s, you’ll be free.

I just love synthesizers and drum machines, they human as fuck!

On your Twitter you use the hashtag #feelsright a lot – want to explain this?

Haha, so many people have been asking me about that, didn’t think anyone noticed. Honestly, I don’t know, it just #feelsright!

Describe a perfect day in the life of Sloslylove.

Getting higher.

What memorable responses have you had to your work so far?

The other day, before playing a set, a friend of mine said that she had recently had sex to my music. I won’t lie, it definitely bummed me out. Because basically, we had the sex, but I wasn’t there…

What can we expect from you in the future?

We’ll see, I have a bunch of different alia’s that I’m currently working on. There might be an album this summer, it might come out, maybe. I’m also doing a bunch of collaborations, so lots to do, no time to sleep.

Okay, last question. Who do you think we should interview next for Los Bangeles?

Google allmypistachios and hit up my dude Andres Guzman, he makes things. Thanks!
