Iglooghost

We’ve had our first encounter with Iglooghost just a few weeks ago, we we’re doing some browsing on Soundcloud and stumbled upon this track called ‘Peanut Smoker’.
After some research we found out that this 17-year old (!) Irish kid was behind all these serious beats, and that he was releasing his new EP ‘Treetunnels’ over at Error Broadcast – Alphapup. We hooked up, and asked him about his role models, fried eggs and Death Note.

Tell us something about yourself please.

I’m a 74 year old floating skull.

Explain what you do in 10 words only.

I make songs and kiss girls with my mouth yo.

Where do you catch your inspiration, and do you have any rolemodels you look up to?

I guess I could be all like Flylo, Aphex, Tim Hecker, Ras G, Dilla blah blah blah but uh… to mix it up… there are a lot of visual artists who I really try and make sort of sonic versions of their art. This fool Derek Ercolano makes amaaaazing shit. Matthew Bromley, Martin Nicholasson, Jack Teagle, Malarky, Jay Wright, and this guy Will Laren are all hella influential to me. Riley Lake is my human role model. As a human though, man he’s a cool human.

Describe a perfect day in the life of Iglooghost.

I dunno dude. I love waking up at like 3PM in the Summer and making tracks until 8PM with the windows open, then getting drunk with other humans and freestyling about hallucinating in deserts. That’s the best.

What are your favorite tv-shows at the moment?

Lucas Bros Moving Co is the bomb. I love The Eric Andre Show as well. They got Mr Muthafuckin’ Exquire to rap while this man in a bear costume distracted him with freezing water. It was great.

Do you have some hidden talents no one knows about?

I dunno man. The other day I fried 2 eggs in onion with this chili herb stuff and put them on crumpets. I was gonna Instagram it but somebody probably just did that the second after I said this.

What’s your most scary experience?

One time I was like 6, and me and my friends were hunting for aliens in the woods. We saw this fucker with 7 eyes, and in retrospect we were all deluding ourselves cus we were annoyed we didn’t kill any aliens.

What’s your most embarrassing moment?

Uh one time when I started secondary school (that’s like middle school for English people), I thought that cartoon Death Note was cool so I bought one from eBay and wrote all my teacher’s names in it. Then this fucking girl found it and gave it to my tutor for some reason, and I had to come in for a meeting with my mum and everyone thought I was heavy into black magic.

Do you have any brand or person in mind whom you really like to collaborate with?

This guy called Jefre Cantu Ledesma. He makes ambient noise music for real thugs. Zeroh as well. I’m gonna figure that out.

Name three artists you’d like to be compared to.

I don’t care as long as they’re not post-ironic Tumblr rappers.

What’s coming up in the future?

Hard to say right now. Some vinyl this year. A shit ton of shows. Tasty collabs. Massages. I’m gonna give up music and become a tech vlogger. That’s a lie. I’m gonna make my own rap album that’s like 1/3 not a joke. Maybe. Basically good things. More releases.
